Youth Oriented Industries: Part 1
By Pastor Tee, Pastor of Outreach
What if I told you that today’s youth oriented industries have helped extend adolescence with a profit motive?
Youth oriented industries did not exist before 1850. ‘Teen culture’ emerged as youth were pushed out of employment, forced into compulsory education and the concept of leisure (free time) developed. In the late 19th century, companies like Milton Bradley and Parker Bros. led the way in targeting the youth market.
Today, youth oriented industries specialize in giving platforms to adults to act youthful and for youth to act like little adults.
